Focus Scripture    Luke 19:1-10

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.  And there was a man named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector, and rich.  And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not, on account of the crowd, because he was small of stature.  So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Jesus, who was to pass that way.  And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he made haste and came down, and received Jesus joyfully. And when they saw it they all murmured, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.”

And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since Zacchaeus also is a descendant of Abraham. For the Human One came to seek and to save the lost.”

The Inquirers Class for November will be the SECOND Sunday of the month —

next Sunday, November 11, at 11:30 a.m. — and new members will be received on the 18th.  In the United Church tradition, the celebration of Thanksgiving is a major holiday because of our Pilgrim heritage.  It is also a powerful time to join the church.  So if you have been thinking about joining, Sunday the 18th of November is an especially meaningful time to do so.
