Focus Scripture    John 1:29-42

John saw Jesus approaching, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

This is the one of whom I said, ‘After me comes a person who ranks before me, for that one was before me.’

I myself did not know who it was; but for this I came baptizing with water, that the one who was to come might be revealed to Israel.”  And John bore witness, “I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know who it was; but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me,

‘The person on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Child of God.” The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus walking by, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

The two disciples heard John say this, and they followed Jesus.  Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said

to them, “What do you seek?”  And they answered, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?”

Jesus said to them, “Come and see.”  The two disciples came and saw where Jesus was staying;

and they stayed there that day, for it was about the tenth hour.  One of the two who heard John speak,

and followed Jesus, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.  Andrew first found his brother Simon, and said to him,

“We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You are to be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).
