KIRK’S LOG

Focus Scripture    Matthew 9:35-10:1

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,

and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless,

like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into God’s harvest."

Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits,

to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness.

Bread for the World’s 2008 Offering of Letters, TODAY The Peace and Justice Committee is participating in Bread for the World's annual "offering of letters". We are asking Congress for more and better poverty-focused development assistance — that will give people in poor countries the skills and opportunities to break the cycle of poverty permanently. These include investments in education, agriculture, nutrition, health and clean water. Last year, members of COGS and friends wrote close to 100 letters.  Information is on the table and easel in the hallway. Write your letters, bring them back to church, and drop them in the basket. TODAY, we will dedicate the letters and fax them to your senators and congresspeople.    Beth Kissling
