KIRK’S LOG
Stardate:
Focus Scripture –
Philippians
4:4-9
Rejoice
in God always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to
everyone.
God
is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and
supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God,
which
surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
Finally,
beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, think on these things. Whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, act on these things.
If
there be any excellence, or anything worthy of praise, speak of these things.
Keep
on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me,
and may the God of
peace be with you.

series, Sundays, 10:15 - 11:00 a.m., beginning July 13th, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montaño NW (2 blks. west of 4th
St.). Following
up on our successful opening talk on Faith and Immigration by a visiting
minister, this series will provide a broader and deeper understanding of the
issues of "a world on the move", with a particular focus on our local
community. Grounding ourselves in core religious teachings about
migrants, we will learn more about the "nuts-and-bolts" (legal
issues, social services, etc.) and possible paths for faithful action here in
St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.

Tomato Tornado – Ready, get set, GO! 5,000 cans of tomatoes; 3,000 packages of
pasta – Can we do it? With your help,
we can.
We encourage you to do
your own shopping for cans of tomatoes and packages of pasta. One of the goals of this project is to
encourage each person to MAKE AN EFFORT on behalf of the poor. It is easy to write a check or kick in cash,
but doing the actual work of remembering people in need by shopping and
lifting is different. Besides that,
people notice when you buy a whole cartful of cans of tomatoes (or packages of
pasta)! It gives each of us a chance to
tell the story. It is a little like
making the effort to go to
