KIRK’S LOG

Stardate: July 20, 2008

Focus Scripture    John 3:16  and  Galatians 3:26-29

John 3:16    For God so loved the world that God gave God’s only child,

so that everyone who believes may have eternal life.

Galatians 3:26-29    For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.

As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female;

for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ,

then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.

While we encourage participation in all four sessions, you are welcome to come for any you are able.  For more information, contact Melissa Jameson, 720-5534.  Series sponsored by

Tomato Tornado
– Ready, get set, GO!   5,000 cans of tomatoes; 3,000 packages of pasta – Can we do it?  With your help, we can.

We encourage you to do your own shopping for cans of tomatoes and packages of pasta.  One of the goals of this project is to encourage each person to MAKE AN EFFORT on behalf of the poor.  It is easy to write a check or kick in cash, but doing the actual work of remembering people in need by shopping and lifting is different.  Besides that, people notice when you buy a whole cartful of cans of tomatoes (or packages of pasta)!  It gives each of us a chance to tell the story.  It is a little like making the effort to go to New Orleans on a mission trip.  We could just send money, but GOING is another level of learning.  If you have trouble getting to the store or would like some extra help getting your cans (of tomatoes) or packages (of pasta) to the church, let us know.  ALL MONEY FOR TOMATOES AND PASTA should go through the church books before it is distributed for shopping.  Thank you for your help and support.

Welcome

Summer ReadingThis is a great time to look over the "Reading Ark" at church. For a very small donation you can pick a book or several books to entertain yourself over the coming months. Also, if you have books (popular fiction and non-fiction), feel free to add them to the shelves. Also, note the bulletin board with short reviews that will help you decide which books to grab. All of the donations for "good reads" go to the Heifer Project.
